An article from Widescreen Gamer describes and shows how an LCD screen could develop a "screen burn" or "image persistence when left to display the same screen image over a long period of time. The solution? 1.) Use screensavers that were really made to prevent CRT burn-ins 2.) Use Power saving options to turn off the monitor after being idle for 15 minutes (or whatever time you want to set it on) 3.) Change background images 4.) If there is already a "screen burn", leave the monitor off overnight, longer if possible.
